Testimonials
"The work experience course is a great experience. You get the opportunity to explore any career field of your choice" Austin Sanchez, Gr 12 “Work Experience has taught me so many skills that are preparing me for my future career and everyday life. Last year I had the privilege to work in a kindergarten classroom as a teacher’s assistant, I have always had a passion for working with children, but was never quite sure where to start. Alongside Claire Freyvogel and other work experience teachers I was able to find an environment I felt safe, confident and comfortable in. The Career Center team provided me with skills such as resume building and how to be interviewed. This year was an exceptional learning experience; I had the opportunity to work with Vancouver Coastal Health and Claudia Lefebvre in the Mindful Kindness Project. Joined by a team of two others we went around to elementary schools and gave presentations in front of students regarding the topics of bullying, being kind and the power of the brain. Throughout this process I learnt so many skills that I will carry with me into my post-secondary studies and everyday life. Work experience gave me opportunities that I would not have been able to find on my own; this program has opened so many positive doors for me for the future and is an amazing course.” Courtney Roberts, Gr 12 |
